Rule of Thumb for Images

If you’re adding the images to the site, please follow two rules of thumb.

1. Downsize the actual image. If you are going to use it as a thumbnail, be sure to downsize the image to that actual size. You can use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements for this.

2. Optimize the image for the web. This actually compresses the image to optimize it for websites. In Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, use the “Save for Web” feature to do this and compress the image to a size (in KB) you can live with that doesn’t compromize the integrity of the image itself.

Each thumbnail image should be no bigger than 15 – 20 k.
